Highstones

Highstones is an abandoned quarry in the northwestern part of the territory, named Devil's Fingers by the Twolegs. It is an easily visible landmark. A tunnel in the ground contains the Moonstone , where leaders and medicine cats go to share tongues with StarClan. It is a neutral territory, unclaimed by any Clan.

Lilyshadow swallowed as she layed down next to the moonstone. Am I ready for this? Yes I am She placed her nose on it and shut her eyes.

At first Lilyshadow didn't think she was dreaming. Everything was black. But, as she opened her eyes, the breath from her body left her. There, stood all the cats she loved and knew, as well as a couple of others. "Oh, Lilyshadow!" Yelled the cat nearest to her. It was her mother, Snowhare. "Its been to long! Oh, how I missed you! Look how you have grown!" For once in her life, Lilyshadow was at loss for words.

"With this life, I give you Mothers love. Use it well and treat the clan as if they were your kits." A shock of pain went through Lilyshadows body. She felt as if she would pass out. She could feel the love her mother had for her one kit, the pain as she was killed and the pride from starclan. By the time her mother had walked away, Lilyshadow felt as if she was passing out. A brown tom walked forewards, with a long tail. "I am Tallstar. With this life, I give you Selflessness. Remember, we are all cats. We all live under the same stars and breathe the same air. Remember to put others before yourself." He touched her nose and she felt a blinding pain. It was like no other thing that ever happened. He moved away. Riverstar walked forewords. "With this life, I give you Offering second Chances. Always offer them, no matter what the cat has done." There was so much pain in this, that Lilyshadow was left shaking. A ginger tom stepped forewords. "I am Firestar. With this life, I give you Compassion. Use it well to support your clan." He touched her nose and suddenly she was filled with the pain of trying to prove herself. Another she-cat walked forewords. "I am Feathertail. With this life, I give you Love. Use this life for those you love in the clan." There was no pain with this life, as it was pure love. Love for Feathertails clan, her brother and her father. A spotted she-cat stepped forewords. "Spottedleg!" Lilyshadow gasped, staring at her mentor. Spottedleg smiled. "With this life, I give you mentoring. Use it to train all the kits in the clan with the warrior code." Spottedleg moved away, revealing another cat. "I am Wolfsbane. I was a loner but I joined riverclan. I knew your mother... A lot." He said. "With this life, I give you Mercy. Use it to never kill another cat, even if they have killed themselves." This life was so far, the most painful. It started with love but then turned into jealousy. Wolfsbane walked away. Another cat stepped forewords. "I am clearstar, your grandfather." He said. "With this life, I give you Patience. USe it to be patient with all the cats in your clan." He gave her the life and it was agony, before he walked away. Swanstar stepped forewords. "Welcome, Lilyshadow, My warrior and my deputy. I knew you would lead the clan into greatness one day. With this life, I give you Resilience. Never give up, no matter how difficult things are." He said, touching her nose. This life was agony.

"I hail you by your new name, Lilystar. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of RiverClan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honour your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity."

All the cats beside her started cheering before she woke up.

Lilystar opened her eyes for the first time as a leader. She looked around. She stood and started heading home.

As Sparkleaf passed Lilystar she nodded her greeting but stayed quiet. She pressed her nose against the moonstone

"Welcome to StarClan, Sparkleaf." A warm purr greeted her
Sparkleaf looked up. "Littlestar!" Sparkleaf shouted and ran up to touch nosed with her former leader.
"I give you this life for strength. Use wisely." Littlestar said and touched noses with Sparkleaf. Sparkleaf felt as if she were the mighty lion, fighting against its enemies.

Another cat stepped forward. "Father!" Sparkleaf shouted as she ran to her father, Thrushwing.
"I give you this life for courage. You must trust in yourself and your clan mates." He touched noses with his daughter.

The next six lives were just as painful as the first two. She felt ready to collapse. A final cat walked up to her. "Thunderstar!" She could hardly hold back her excitement.
"I give you your final life for leadership. Lead with pride. And take care if my clan." He said. "I hail you by your new name, Sparkstar. You have revived your nine lives and your title as leader. Lead with pride and dignity." He said.
"Sparkstar! Sparkstar!" All of StarClan was cheering.

Sparkstar woke up and started back to ThunderClan.
